We did a little reflecting today on past events and how different our lives would all be without the civil rights movement. But aside from reflecting on what today represents, we don’t have any traditions for MLK day, do you? Since the weather was nice, (a windy, warm, slightly overcast day here, in Norman, OK) we just headed to the park with some friends–
…It was nice to have a restful day and spend time with others before work picks back up again, too!
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction … The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, “Strength To Love” speech, 1963.
